Mt. Judah Loop 6/2003

Chris & I spent some time in the Tahoe area in mid June of 2003. We hiked several portions of the Pacific Crest Trail, including this spur around Mt. Judah. Big ups to our friend Danno, who lead the way on this great hike. Click the images for a bigger view.

Chris is ready to go. The day was bright and clear, and offered much promise. Dan shows the relationship between the ocean and Donner Peak. In this panorama from left to right: Mt. Lincoln, Mt. Disney, Lake Van Norden & Soda Springs, and Donner Peak.
This tree is pretty big- and it grows out of rock! Dan & Chris. We are on the backside of Judah, making good progress to the peak.
You can see Royal Gorge between Mt. Lincoln & Mt. Disney, over Chris' left shoulder.
Dan says they put up a fresh sign on the peak at Mt. Judah.
The wildflowers along the ridge were simply overwhelming. The pictures can not do justice to the stunning display we witnessed, but here are a few looks anyway.
Decsending the ridge, heading toward Mt. Lincoln. A lonesome tree.
Colorful lichen and the habitat of something... but what? Hitting the tree line before wrapping around to the frontside.
