Wake Up America- Get off your Arse and Vote!!

What a sorry bunch of idiots we are. Our founding fathers went to a lot of trouble to make sure that we (OK, well back then just some of us- but we did fix those issues later on) had a say in how we were represented and governed, and that WE would control the politicians, not the other way around.

And what have we done with that opportunity? Squat. Zero. Zilch. Nada. It appears we are too busy with our over-saturated and intensely consumptive lives that we can't spend just 15 minutes ONE DAY A YEAR to show up at the polls and vote. You know, people in other countries would love to have such an opportunity, they are fighting and dieing for the right to vote, and yet we can't even bother. We should be ashamed of ourselves. Meanwhile the government continues to be less and less "by the people and for the people" with each passing day.

Let's break it down. Typical average turnout of eligible voters is under 50% on election day. That means a candidate has a reasonable chance of winning by only convincing 1 in 4 eligible voters that they should vote for them. And that number only goes down when turnout is lower. That is certainly no majority and certainly no mandate! Because we are so lazy, we have made it way too easy for them to get into office and do as they please! This is wrong, wrong, wrong, and we have only ourselves to blame.

We complain and moan that corporate influence and Political Action Committees (PACs) have the run of politicians, that the little guy is being left out. Guess what? The little guy didn't even bother to spend a few moments to exercise his constitutional right and make his opinion known on election day. Boo F#ckin' Hoo! What if politicians knew that 90, 80, or even just 70% of the voter age population was watching and weighing in on election day? They would then be on notice that we are paying attention, and that their actions need to be accounted for to the American public. The country would be a lot better off today if they felt that kind of scrutiny and pressure. Our constitutional rights are under assault RIGHT NOW because politicians know we are lazy, and think we don't care and won't notice. We must prove them wrong before it is too late!!

So please people, inform yourselves and vote on each and every election day. It's not just a right, it's our duty to our country. This is the only way we can get the politicians to move in the direction that "we the people" need, want, and deserve. It's that simple.
